Klein Vision’s AirCar, a vehicle that can transform from a road car into an aeroplane, has successfully completed two takeoffs and landings.
The AirCar, which can transform between modes of transport in three minutes, completed the airport patterns at Piestany airport in Slovakia at the end of October.
The two-seater, which is the fifth generation design iteration, weighs 1,100kg and can carry an additional load of 200kg per flight.
Powered by a BMW 1.6l engine, the car-plane has an effective power output of 140HP.
The estimated travel range of the AirCar is around 620 miles.
Professor Stefan Klein, Klein Vision’s chief technology officer and test pilot, said: “The key flight parameters confirmed all theoretical concepts and calculations that the development of the AirCar was based on.
“Following the completion of all required flight tests in compliance with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations, we will deliver a model with a certified ADEPT, 300HP engine within the next six next months.”
