Daimler has become the first car manufacturer to sign up to Wejo’s new product, Neutral Server Plus, which allows third parties to access connected vehicle data.
The partnership gives Wejo access to five categories of vehicle-generated data through Daimler AG, including pay-as-you-drive insurance, fuel status, vehicle status, vehicle lock status, and data specific to electric vehicles (EV).
Wejo’s cloud-based data exchange platform then simplifies and shares the data, enabling third parties such as insurers, EV charging providers, fuel providers and smart mobility services, to access it without having a unique agreement with Daimler.
Drivers will be able to give consent and then see information about their car in an app.
Richard Barlow, founder and CEO of Wejo, said: “Wejo's partnership with Daimler AG and the launch of Neutral Server Plus are two critical milestones as we create the global mobility data ecosystem.
“Having millions of vehicles across Europe on our platform adds another vital dimension to our market-leading data insights, which will be transformative for partners and drivers.”
