Decarbonisation: Where will councils find the money?

How much larger might this problem be when local authorities are at the sharp end of delivering transport decarbonisation – everything from better bus services to electric vehicle (EV) charging points to safer streets for pedestrians?

There are, though, reasons for cautious optimism about how much Government and private sector money might be available as the local level tries to deliver policies originating at national – indeed international – level.

The first hurdle will be the Comprehensive Spending Review due later this year, which is expected to cover three years and end a period of uncertainly.
