Volta Trucks will start testing its production ready 16-tonne fully electric truck in early 2022.
The Volta Zero has a total range of between 95-125 miles and is aimed specifically at inner-city logistics.
There are plans for forthcoming 7.5t, 12t and 18t variants.
Production of the first 25 vehicles will start this year, with these production prototypes embarking on a “comprehensive and rigorous testing regime” at the start of next year.
The company is aiming to enter full production by the end of 2022 and prices are yet to be revealed.
Ian Collins, chief product officer of Volta Trucks, said: “The production ready Volta Zero delivers a paradigm shift in commercial vehicle safety and sustainability, and I look forward to seeing the vehicles on the road early next year as our rigorous testing programme starts.”
