Transport and spatial planning key focus for next Northern Evidence Academic Forum

TfN concept image

The next Northern Evidence Academic Forum meeting will focus on the vital relationship between transport and spatial planning.

The online meeting is free to attend and starts at 12pm on February 16.

Created by Transport for the North (TfN), the forum brings together decision-makers and the academics whose research can help inform transport projects, providing a collaborative space to aid infrastructure planning that is based on evidence.

This quarter’s meeting looks at transport and spatial planning, covering how spaces can be best managed and developed to meet the needs of the economy, environment and communities.

Through the Strategic Transport Plan (STP), TfN is developing a spatial planning policy framework which outlines how the sub-national transport body can support partners in the North.

Confirmed speakers for the next meeting include:

  • Callum Reddington, Policy and Strategy Officer at TfN
  • Dr Tim Jones, Oxford Brookes University – presenting on sustainable urban mobility
  • Dr Philipp Rode, London School of Economics – presenting on integrated governance for transport and land-use planning
  • Guilherme Rodrigues and Anthony Breach, Centre for Cities – presenting on their report Measuring Up: Comparing public transport in the UK and Europe’s biggest cities

Discussions and research from the forum will be fed into TfN’s Northern Evidence Hub, an open platform to host evidence and enable knowledge sharing from a single place.
