Government delays decarbonisation plan to spring 2021

white bus

The Government has pushed back its transport decarbonisation plan, which was due to be published before the end of the year, until spring 2021.

The plan is the first time the UK will lay out its approach to decarbonising every form of transport, setting out “a credible and ambitious pathway to delivering transport’s contribution to carbon budgets and to meeting net zero by 2050”.

In March this year the Department for Transport published its 'Decarbonising Transport Setting the Challenge' paper, as a starting point.

It also set up the Net Zero Transport Board to help shape the policy, with Chair of Smart Transport Professor Stephen Joseph and another Smart Transport member UK100, the UK network of local authorities focused on climate and clean energy policy, among the members.
