Advanced Propulsion Centre offers £100,000 to fund low-emission projects

The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) has opened its fourth round of funding to offer £100,000 to technology developers working on low-emission vehicle projects.

The Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP) is calling on all micro, small and medium-sized companies, who are developing technology, products or services that aim to reduce emissions and are relevant to the automotive industry, to apply for up to £100,000 in funding to help bring their proposition to commercialisation.

Winning projects will benefit from funding, as well as access to industry experts who help identify routes to market, protect intellectual property and validate the technology.

Josh Denne, TDAP manager, said: ‘We welcome applications from developers with early stage low-emission innovation - either on or off vehicle. Through TDAP, the APC hopes to kick-start a company’s commercialisation journey.”

To apply for the TDAP programme, the innovative technology should otherwise demonstrate a strong potential impact in one of the key five areas of technology outlined by the Automotive Council; Power Electronics, Electric Machines, Electrical Energy Storage, Digital Engineering or Thermal Propulsion Systems.

Projects can apply for the TDAP programme by visiting and expressing their interest.

The APC is issuing application packs to eligible applicants on an ongoing basis.

The closing date for applications is January 15, 2020 with a target start date of April 2020.

Over an initial 10-year lifespan, the APC has a goal to save 50 million tonnes of CO2 emissions from the automotive industry, supporting the UK Government’s net zero plans.

It is therefore investing in technologies that help lower emissions and protect the environment.

The APC facilitates the relationship between UK Government and companies leading UK-based projects aimed at advancing low carbon automotive technology.
